PHOTOGRAPHER -- Tom Wray

Tom and his wife Mara settled in Schomberg 27 yrs ago. They were drawn to the area because of the quaint historic village and the rolling green pastures beyond.

They live in one of the charming heritage houses that make this area so picturesque. Peek over the picket fence and you can glimpse the flowers that are the inspiration for many of Tom's floral studies.

Tom’s early venture into photography began when he studied Audio Visual Arts at Humber College. His interest was piqued many years later with the introduction of the digital camera. He has embraced this new technology with passion, building on his solid foundation of photographic techniques.

Tom and Mara enjoy taking long walks with their dog - camera and tripod in tow. The woods, streams and farmland in this area offer Tom plenty of subject matter. The past few summers have found the couple exploring further afield - from the rugged shoreline of the East Coast to the mountainous West.

Who knows what destinations beckon in the future.

“My passion for photography reflects my philosophy of life:
Life often passes us by, as if through the window of a moving vehicle.
I have learned to stop, and savour these precious moments. This enables me to capture the essence of a fragment in time - the play of light and shadow on a curled petal or dew drop on an upturned leaf - which I translate into photographic images.”
